hi ate! you stated that you took the exam for dlsu and ust, may i know po the difference of the structure nung test po? thank you 💓

i swear, tumblr is broken somehow ‘cos i didn’t get notified for this ask! anywho, i will answer this even if i’m pretty sure this was asked prior to the last cet season.

i didn’t just take DCAT & USTET, i took the UPCAT and the ACET as well. however, since you are only asking for the DCAT and USTET structure, this answer will only be pertaining to those!

the DCAT is structured by MANY subtests—we had a break in-between subtests. if i remember correctly, it was structured as such:

1) mental ability (shape & pattern recognition)
2) language proficiency (english & filipino)
3) math (problem-solving, trigonometry, algebra, some geometry)
4) 10-minute break (bring your own snacks!)
5) science (biology, physics, chemistry)
6) mental ability 2 (word problems mixed with pattern recognition)
7) personality test (gives you a situation, answer honestly)

the test was a long and grueling one, especially since the building that i took it in had the coldest of aircons. you are not allowed to go to the bathroom during the test, only during the allotted break time. they have very nice comfort rooms though!

the USTET, (my uni<3) in comparison, only has 4 subtests. if you are applying for a quota course, i will add those below!

1) mental ability (shape & pattern recognition - 15 minutes)
2) english (business comm, oral comm, EAPP, 21st CL)
3) math (problem-solving, algebra, geometry)
4) science (biology, physics, chemistry, earth science)

for quota courses, there are either a) more subtests, b) separate talent tests/auditions, or c) the leapmed exam.

a) more subtests
usually these subtests are for those who will be applying for fine arts or archi. there would be an extra visual logic puzzle subtest, and a drawing test.

b) separate talent tests/auditions
this isn’t a subtest, it’s more of an entirely separate exam where UST will give you another date to come in and audition for them. this is for those applying for conservatory of music.

c) the leapmed exam
this test is intended for stem students across the country (stem & health allied if from ust-shs) who are aspiring to become doctors. the leapmed program is a 6-year course where its students complete a 2-year bachelor’s degree and 4 years in medicine proper, earning 2 degrees in 6 years. subtests include anatomy, botany, chemistry, physics, physiology, and zoology. this is an entirely separate test from the USTET, and has an additional fee.

i hope that answers your question, anon!
